A housewife, Sha’wa Abdullahi, has prayed an Upper Area Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, to dissolve her marriage with Shagari Ibrahim on grounds of alleged Assault.
The petitioner is a resident of Kurundumau, Mararaba, Karu Nasarawa State, and they both reside in the same location within the court’s jurisdiction.
Abdullahi, who also wants custody of her children, said that Ibrahim married her under the Sharia Islamic law and they are blessed with three children.
She told the court that her husband does not take responsibility for her and the children and has failed to provide shelter, maintenance and healthcare to them.
She further claimed that he beats her, insults her, disgraces her and calls her a prostitute.
Abdullahi, therefore, prayed that the court should dissolve the marriage and grant her custody of the three children.
In response to the allegations, Ibrahim pleaded for settlement and asked for time to put his family in order.
The Judge, Mohammed Shomo, gave the couple time to settle the matter amicably or come back for the dissolution of the marriage.
He adjourned the case until July 30 for report of settlement.(NAN)
