The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Oyo State police command have entered into a collaboration to fight corruption in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the collaboration was agreed upon on Tuesday when the ICPC Commissioner in charge of Oyo and Ogun states, Mr. Stephen Pimor, visited the state police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.
Pimor said that the visit was to seek the collaboration of the police with the commission in the fight against corruption.
The ICPC commissioner said that the responsibility of fight corruption was initially given to the police before the Federal Government decided to create ICPC due to the dynamics of the society.
“We usually have the police and other officers as our security operatives, but there is the need for both the commission and the police authorities to strengthen our relationship.
“We must ensure synergy and cooperation in the discharge of our task of stamping out corruption in Nigeria,” Pimor said.
In his response, the state Police Commissioner, Shina Olukolu, said it was logical and necessary that the police and ICPC worked together to achieve a better society.
