In a move to bolster the intelligence capabilities of the Police Force, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun has directed the assignment of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to lead the Intelligence Department at both Zonal and State Commands across the country.

The decision to deploy ACPs to key positions within the Intelligence Department aligns with the IGP’s commitment to elevating the effectiveness of intelligence operations throughout the Force. This initiative is a crucial step in addressing the prevailing crime rate in the country, consistent with the vision articulated in the IGP’s statement.

Upon assuming office, IGP Egbetokun reactivated the presidential approval to elevate the Force Intelligence Bureau to the status of a department, appointing DIG Habu Sanni to oversee the newly established Department of Force Intelligence.

The newly appointed senior officers are tasked with leveraging intelligence-based assets to combat crimes and criminal activities within their respective areas of responsibility. IGP Egbetokun emphasises the need for professionalism and the application of their extensive experience to strengthen the existing intelligence architecture of the Force.

This strategic posting takes immediate effect, signalling a proactive step in the ongoing efforts to enhance the intelligence capabilities of the police force nationwide.
