Jigawa judiciary disposes 22,829 cases in 2025

Dutse, Feb. 18, 2026 (NAN) The Jigawa State Judiciary has disposed 22,829 out of the 29,958 criminal cases recorded between January and December 2025.

Justice Umar Sadiq, the Chief Judge of the state, said this in a statement by Abbas Wangara, Director Publicity/Protocol Matters of the judiciary, on Wednesday in Dutse.

Sadiq said this during the 2025 Annual Bar and Bench Meeting to review the performance of the courts.

He said the State High Courts received 917 cases, disposed 685 and 233 others pending.

The chief judge said that Magistrates’ courts recorded 5,016 cases and disposed 2,014 cases, leaving 3,002 pending.

Sadiq said the Shari’a Court of Appeal disposed 86 out of the 148 cases recieved while 62 others pending.

“In 2025; lower Shari’ah Courts received 23,877 cases, demonstrating remarkable efficiency, the courts disposed of 20,044 of those cases, leaving 3,833 matters still pending,” Sadiq was quoted as saying in the statement.

While commending judicial personnel for the feat, Sadiq also lauded stakeholders for their supports toward the attainment of efficient justice administration in the state. (NAN)
