The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Kaduna State branch, has commended Gov. Uba Sani for what it described as unprecedented support for the judiciary through improved workers’ welfare and major infrastructure investment.
The union said the governor’s interventions had strengthened the administration of justice, enhanced staff welfare and reinforced the independence of the judiciary in Kaduna State.
The commendation is contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the union, Auwalu Sarki, Assistant Secretary, Nasir Haruna, and Treasurer, Hygienus Aka’ahs, on Thursday in Kaduna.
The statement said the governor approved and paid outfit allowances for all categories of judiciary staff in the state and also cleared two months’ withheld salaries for April and May 2021, which had remained unpaid by the previous administration.
It added that the governor had also approved the payment of Leave and Transport Grants for judiciary workers from the time he assumed office up to 2025, noting that the payments were expected to commence soon.
According to the statement, the state government had awarded and commenced the renovation of the Kaduna State Judiciary Headquarters, including the High Court of Justice, the Shari’a Court of Appeal, the Customary Court of Appeal and the Judicial Service Commission, at a cost exceeding N2 billion.
It further said the governor approved the payment of other outstanding entitlements due to judicial officers and judiciary staff across the state.
He described the interventions as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to strengthening the justice delivery system, safeguarding judicial independence and improving the welfare of judicial personnel.
“The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria sincerely appreciates these unprecedented interventions and assures the governor of the continued support and cooperation of judiciary staff in promoting efficient, effective and timely administration of justice in Kaduna State.”
The statement prayed for God to grant the governor wisdom, strength and good health to continue delivering democratic dividends to the people of Kaduna State. (NAN).
