A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Mr Shehu Bawa, says tackling insecurity will be his top priority if elected governor in the 2027 general elections.
Bawa stated this on Tuesday while submitting his nomination form at the party’s state secretariat in Kaduna.
“Protection of lives and property remains the foundation for meaningful development. Kaduna State cannot attain sustainable progress in an atmosphere of fear and violence.
“Several communities across the state are still grappling with banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities, and the situation is both urgent and unacceptable,” Bawa said.
He pledged that if elected, his administration will strengthen community-based security structures, improve collaboration with security agencies and restore public confidence in government’s capacity to safeguard citizens.
Bawa also identified women and youth empowerment as critical components of his proposed administration.
“Many young people in the state are facing unemployment and economic hardship, while women continue to encounter social and economic limitations,” he said.
The PDP chieftain added that his administration will implement policies aimed at job creation, support for small and medium-scale enterprises and increased youth participation in governance and decision-making.
He further expressed concern over the prevailing economic hardship affecting citizens in Kaduna State and across the country.
“Many households are struggling with rising living costs,” he said.
The aspirant criticized the current administration over what he described as inadequate efforts to address the country’s socio-economic challenges, urging citizens to embrace a change in leadership during the 2027 elections.
“The PDP remains capable of restoring hope and addressing the nation’s pressing issues if given the mandate,” he said.
Bawa also called on party members and supporters to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilization ahead of the elections.
“Collective effort will be vital to the party’s success,” he added. (NAN)
