Kaduna, Feb. 6, 2026 (NAN) Stakeholders in Kaduna State’s agricultural sector have called for stronger coordination to accelerate growth and improve outcomes under the Policy on Agricultural Systems Strengthening (PASS).
The Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture, Abubakar Abba, made the call on Friday at the First Quarter Agriculture Sector Stakeholders’ Meeting held in Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PASS is being supported Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), with technical assistance from Synergos to strengthen sector planning and execution.
Abba said the meeting reviewed the ministry’s first quarter 2026 activities with aligned partner interventions to reduce duplication and enhance impact across agricultural value chains.
He said agriculture remained central to food security, employment and economic development, despite challenges such as climate variability, input gaps, weak market access and capacity constraints.
According to him, addressing the challenges requires sustained collaboration among government agencies, development partners, the private sector, research institutions and farming communities.
Abba described PASS as a framework for coordination, dialogue and joint action, urging stakeholders to actively engage and commit to agreed sector priorities.
In his remarks, Synergos Country Director, Moses Adejor, called for stronger collaboration, research-driven policies and wider adoption of improved technologies to boost agricultural productivity in the state.
Adejor said sustained progress depended on effective partnerships among government, academia, the private sector and non-state actors working toward shared development goals.
He warned that weak investment in research and innovation could slow sectoral transformation and undermine ongoing reforms.
Adejor added that Synergos, working with partners including AGRA, was providing technical assistance to support the Ministry of Agriculture in implementing its strategic plans and priority programmes.
He said a sector fact sheet highlighted gaps in seed adoption and technology use, commended state policy reforms and urged retention of trained personnel and alignment of AGRA supported projects with state targets.(NAN)
