The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old housewife for allegedly attempting to kill her husband.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Katsina.
Sadiq-Aliyu said the incident was reported at the Central Market Police Division at about 9 a.m., on Monday by the victim, Jamilu Ibrahim.
He said Ibrahim reported that at about 5;30 a.m., on the same day, while he was asleep, his wife allegedly attacked him with a knife in an attempt to slit his throat.
According to the police spokesman, the victim sustained a deep cut on the neck and was immediately rushed to a hospital where he is responding to treatment.
He said that police operatives visited the scene, arrested the suspect and recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack.
“The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” he said.
Sadiq-Aliyu quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Umar-Fage, as cautioning residents against domestic violence and urged them to resolve family disputes through peaceful and lawful means.
The commissioner also appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the police in tackling crime across the state.(NAN).
