KDSG commits to repositioning  tertiary educational institutions

OThe Kaduna State Government has reiterated its commitment to significantly invest in the state’s tertiary institutions.
Gov. Uba Sani, made this pledge on Saturday at the Students’ Development Summit in Kaduna, themed “Celebrating One Year of Excellence and Purposeful Leadership”.
 Sani highlighted some ongoing projects, including the construction of new classrooms and the rehabilitation of existing ones in primary and secondary schools.
 He stated that 15 per cent of the state’s; budget was allocated to skills development across educational institutions, positioning Kaduna as a leader in education.
The governor called on the youth to maintain peace and order, emphasizing that peaceful coexistence was essential for the state’s continued progress.
He assured that the government remains open to dialogue to address the challenges faced by the students.
“We are committed to more training and retraining of teachers and ensuring that every child who needs to be in school is enrolled,” Sani said.
He acknowledged the significant challenges in Northern Nigeria, such as education, employment, and insecurity,  urging the Northern leaders to focus on solutions rather than blame.
Sani stressed that his administration was working tirelessly to address students’ scholarships and encouraged them  to articulate their needs constructively.
He commended the students for choosing not to engage in protests, emphasising the importance of peace in achieving these goals.
Hajiya Halima Bello, the SSA to the governor on Student Matters, highlighted the summit’s role in fostering meaningful dialogue and development among students, educators, and policymakers.
 She urged the students to avoid being used for protests and to focus on their goals.
Former Director-General, NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, advised the youth to express grievances through dialogue rather than unrest.
He acknowledged the hardships in the country but emphasised the need for peaceful change.
The SSA to President Bola Tinubu on Students’ Matters, Mr Sunday Asefon, assured the students of the president’s commitment to supporting Nigerian students and urged patience as the government works to fulfill its promises.
 He advised youth to steer clear of negative influences.
Mr Abubakar Umar, Director-General  of Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence for societal progress.
 He cautioned that protests could lead to law and order breakdowns and urged the youth to protect Kaduna, the capital of Northern Nigeria.
The State’s chapter Chairman,Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Caleb Ma’aji, cautioned the students against ungodly actions,  urged them to respect and obey their leaders while committing to good deeds.(NAN
