The Kaduna State Government is to expend N2.1 billion for the construction of mass housing for low-income earners in the state in 2022.
This is contained in the 2022 budget of N278.6 billion signed by Gov. Nasir El-Rufai with a capital expenditure of N185 billion.
A copy of the budget which was obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Monday showed that a total of N5.8 billion was allocated to the Ministry of Urban and Housing Development for capital projects.
It shows that N3.0 billion was set aside for the construction and acquisition of new state government administrative buildings, N198.5 million for mortgage interest rate subsidy and N149.9 million for construction of green parks.
Also, N305.4 million was earmarked for the construction of a block of studios and administrative buildings for Kaduna State Media Corporation.
The budget also showed that Kaduna State Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) would spend N2.8 billion on design, installation, management, and transfer of geographic information service under its capital expenditure.
KADGIS would also spend N130.6 million on preparation of 17 Master Plans and mappings, N160 million on economic surveys of Master Plans of the state, and N120 million on “Public Service on Wheels’’.
It also showed that the service would spend N173.3 million on surveys and demarcation of approved layouts in the state, and N232.8 million on Systematic Property Registration programme.
Also, a total of N756 million was allocated for the assessment of land and economic trees and recovery of public lands for compensation and N120 million for the assessment and valuation of land and landed properties.
Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority also got a total of N439.6 million for capital projects, out of which N270 million would be spent on procurement of new heavy-duty equipment.
Also, N169.6 million would be spent on street naming and house numbering project.
Similarly, the state Mortgage and Foreclosure Authority got N1.3 million to upgrade its website and N2.3 million to digitalize registry records and install a file tracking record system. (NAN)
