Lagos, December 5, 2023: The family of 13-year-old Miracle Adereti is seeking urgent intervention from the police after she was reportedly kidnapped by an unknown gang in the Ikotun area of Lagos State. The incident occurred on Friday, December 1, as Miracle was returning from school.
According to reports, the kidnappers had trailed Miracle to school in the morning, patiently waiting until the closing period. The gang, parked a short distance away from the school premises, abducted Miracle while she and her sister were walking home.
Miracle’s father, Segun Adereti, who works at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, recounted the distressing situation. He mentioned that he received a call in the afternoon informing him about the abduction. The family promptly reported the incident to the nearest police station.
Adereti revealed that the kidnappers have made threats, cautioning the family against involving the police. The perpetrators allegedly claimed that, as a politician, Adereti has sufficient funds to secure his daughter’s release.
Expressing deep distress, Adereti appealed to the police for immediate action to track down the culprits. He also urged law enforcement to secure his residence due to the threats received.
“The situation has traumatised my family. I earnestly appeal for immediate intervention to bring these criminals to justice and ensure our safety,” Adereti emphasized.
The family is anxiously awaiting the efforts of the police to locate and safely return Miracle.
