KTHA seeks construction of drainages to prevent erosion

The Katsina State House of Assembly has called on the executive to construct drainages and culverts in Bindawa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state in order to prevent erosion.

During its plenary in Katsina on Tuesday, presided by the Speaker, Alhaj Nasir Yahaya-Daura, the assembly also called for the rehabilitation of the General Hospital in Mani LGA.

The resolution followed separate motions presented by Alhaji Shu’aibu Zayyana (APC- Mani) Constituency, and Alhaji Umar Ali, (APC- Bindawa) Constituency.

Ali stated that erosion posed a significant threat to Kute quarters near Doro Model Primary School, where toilet facilities had been eroded, forcing the pupils to ease themselves in hazardous conditions.

The lawmaker representing Mani in his motion, highlighted the deplorable state of the general hospital and the devastating effects of erosion in the affected areas.

He lamented that the hospital, which serves several local government areas, was in a state of disrepair, with dilapidated buildings, roofs, scarcity of water, electricity, and inadequate wards for patients.

Alhaji Wakili, representing (APC- Kafur) supported the motion, urging the house to ensure the hospital’s inclusion in next year’s budget, as promised by Gov. Dikko Radda.

The lawmakers unanimously adopted the motions and called on the state government to take immediate action to address the issues.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the speaker further directed the Clerk of the assembly to write to the executive arm for further action. (NAN
