Ayedun Community of Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara, has donated an operational vehicle to the Kwara Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

This is contained in a press statement signed by the command’s Spokesman, Mr. Babawale Afolabi, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Wednesday.

The State Commandant, Iskilu Makinde, was quoted in the statement as saying that the issue of securing the state had become more demanding, but that the security agencies were working hard to ensure peace and stability.

“The commandant, represented by his deputy, Ishaq Abdulganiyu, said one of the things that frustrated the efforts of the security agencies in the state was lack of enough operational vehicles to move round.

“There should be an available vehicle at each of the 16 local government areas of the state, in order to conduct an effective daily patrol,” he said.

It further appealed to individuals and corporate organizations to complement the effort of the government, by donating more vehicles to security agencies.

“We need more communities, well-meaning individuals and corporate organizations to do similar things, as Ayedun Community has done,” he said.

According to the statement, the commandant thanked the community for the gift and promised to work assiduously in order to rid the entire state of criminal elements.

It said the hand-over ceremony was graced by traditional chiefs of Ayedun and its environs, representatives of the security agencies and the state government. (NAN)
