Ilorin, Jan. 20, 2026 (NAN) The Kwara Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs, on Tuesday, distributed food items and toiletries to orphanages and the less privileged in the state.
Presenting the items to the orphanages, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Oluwakemi Afolashade, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to dignity and wellbeing of the less privileged.
She said that the initiative was part of the government’s resolve to ensure every child was given the right and appropriate opportunity to grow.
“This is also aimed at reducing the rate of malnutrition among children.
“We want the children to know that their homes remain an environment of hope and growth, rather than a refuge,” she said.
The commissioner appreciated the wife of the Kwara Governor, Amb. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, and the state government for providing the items while also commending the caregivers at the orphanages and special needs homes.
She assured the management of the homes of the state government’s continued support.
Alhaja Rasheedat Jubril, Principal, Kwara State School for Special Needs, who responded on behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciated the state government and the ministry of women affairs.
Jubril also prayed that God bless the governor for the kind gesture.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), one of the beneficiaries, Future Focus Orphanage, represented by Hajia Abibat Yusuf, commended the state for recognising the efforts of orphanages as a supporting arm of government.
Yusuf appreciated the state government for the love shown to the orphanages and the less privileged in the state.
“I pray that God will continue to uphold the governor and his wife and lead the administration to success,” she said. (NAN)
