Okitipupa (Ondo State) March, 26, 2026 (NAN) A 35-year-old labourer on Thursday, appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, for allegedly stealing palm fruits worth N450,000.
The defendant, Timi Adelola, whose address was not stated, is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on felony and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant. and two others now at large, conspired to commit the offence on Jan. 10, at about 5.30 a.m. at a palm fruits plantation along Okitipupa-Aye road in Okitipupa magisterial district.
He alleged that the defendant and his accomplices stole palm fruits worth N450,000, belonging to one Mr James Adetola.
The prosecutor said that the defendant was eventually arrested by the police.
The offences contravenes the provisions of Sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
The court held that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and must also present evidence of two years tax payment, made to the state government.
He, adjourned the case until April 9, for hearing. (NAN)
