An Ilorin-based legal practitioner, Mr. Rilwan Muritala, has called on Journalists to promote made-in-Nigeria products, through their reports, in order to enhance economic growth and development.
Muritala, who made the call in Ilorin on Friday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said Journalists must make it a duty to write and promote the rich locally-made products.
According to him, most Nigerians are not proud of Nigerian made products, rather they patronize foreign products.
“Journalists are expected to change the public perception towards made-in-Nigeria products by focusing mainly on reporting the importance and quality of the products.
“Help us erase the mentality that Nigerian products are fake. Let them appreciate the home-made products and see the good sides of it.
“We can show the world what we have through campaign on social media. Let us patronize our rich textile products instead of waiting for Italian wears,” he said.
He said Nigeria is blessed with Cocoa butter, rubber, honey, palm kernel oil, gallstone, textiles and garments which are enough to lift the country’s economy.
The lawyer, however, advised Nigerians to stop seeing everything foreign as the best to the detriment of locally-made goods.
“Made-in Nigeria products are worth patronizing because they are the best. Stop boosting the foreign economy and invest in Nigeria products,” he said. (NAN)
