The Kwara Government has pledged sustainable partnership with various national and international bodies on malaria elimination programme.
Dr. Raji Razaq, the state Commissioner for Health, said this while receiving a delegation comprising members of the National Malaria Elimination Programme and Global Fund on Thursday in Ilorin.
Other delegates included the Society for Family Health and the Association of Civil Society Organization on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN).
Razaq noted that the implementing partners had been wooed by the state government’s huge investment through provision of fund and dedicated human resources toward eliminating malaria in the state.
“Your roles as partners from the National, Global Fund and other collaborating Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are key to our administration’s success toward eliminating malaria in Kwara State,” he said.
He said that the state government took various actions to ensure that healthcare delivery services were brought to the doorstep of all citizens irrespective of wherever they reside.
According to him, malaria has become endemic in the state and the country as whole, while concerted efforts are put in place to eradicate the disease.
Razaq commended the commitment of health partners in the state to the success of the Malaria Intervention Programme of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration.
Earlier, Dr. Eze Nelson, the National Coordinator of National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), Federal Ministry of Health, appreciated the contributions of the state government at the just concluded Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention Programme.
He also commended the Kwara government on its plans toward achieving greater outcomes in the subsequent years.
Nelson however appealed to AbdulRazaq not to rest on his oars in delivering quality healthcare services to the people.
He assured the commissioner that the health partners would not relent in supporting the state government in their future malaria elimination programme activities. (NAN)
