Sango-Ota (Ogun), March 3, 2026 (NAN) A 26-year-old man, Victor John, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ota Magistrates ‘ Court in Ogun, for allegedly obtaining the sum of N1.1 million under false pretense.
John, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of fraud, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in 2025, at about 2.20 p.m. at Ewupe, Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained N1.1 million under false pretense of doing tiling works for the complainant, Mohammad Ogunniyi.
He alleged that the defendant converted the money to personal use instead of doing the tiling works that the complainant asked him.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Fadairo ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
He adjourned the case until March 10, for further hearing.(NAN)
