Man, 26, in court over alleged unlawful possession of mobile phone

A 26-year-old man, Feranmi Oluwaseun, on Thursday appeared before a Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo, Ibadan, over the alleged unlawful possession of a suspected stolen mobile phone.
Oluwaseun pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful possession.
The court’s President, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
Akintayo held that the sureties must each provide evidence of tax payment to the Oyo State Government and a valid means of identification.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 21 for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on July 11 at about 10.55 p.m. at Ojaba, Ibadan.
Ayeni alleged that Oluwaseun was arrested in possession of a Samsung A07 mobile phone suspected to have been stolen.
According to him, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of how he came into possession of the phone.
He alleged that the defendant had an accomplice still at large.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 430 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN).
