The Police on Wednesday arraigned a 29-year-old man, Samuel Nimtim, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged possession of a stolen motorcycle.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a lone charge of possession of a stolen motorcycle.
The police prosecutor, Insp Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 30 at about 4.00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant had in his possession one Boxer Bajaj motorcycle, reasonably suspected to have been stolen.
Bamikole said the offence contravened Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr David Ogbide, urged the court to grant his client bail, promising he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N25,000 with one surety in like sum.
He later adjourned the case till July 23 for hearing. (NAN
