Man, 29, in court over alleged theft of phones, other items worth ₦757,000

Sango-Ota(Ogun), Aug.21, 2025 (NAN)A 29-year-old man, Elijah Ebenezer, on Thursday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly breaking into a premises and stealing a Samsung Note 8, an iPhone XR Max, and other items valued at ₦757,000.
The defendant, whose house address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of burglary, stealing and conspiracy.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant and others still at large, committed the offences on Feb. 23, at about 2.00 a.m. at No.7 Ademola Adebiyi St., Alade Owode, Sango-Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendant and his accomplices conspired to break into the premises of the complainant, Okeleye Gbemiga, and stole Samsung note 8, Iphone xr Max, and other valuable items worth N757,000.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 390, 412 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
Fadairo said that surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
She  adjourned the case until Aug.26, for further hearing.(NAN)
