Man, 30, arraigned over alleged theft laptop

The police on Tuesday dragged a 30-year-old man, Temitope Adesina, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of school ‘s laptop.

The defendant, whose address was not stated, is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing.

He, however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adejare, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 4, at St.Lawrence School, in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant stole four HP Laptops valued at N1.2 million, property of one St. Lawrence School.

The prosecutor said that the defendant was eventually arrested by the police.

The offence contravenes the provisions of section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti,State 2021.

Defence counsel, Mrs Blessing Falaye urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case until June 25, for hearing. (NAN)
