Man, 30, in court for allegedly receiving stolen cloth

A 30-year-old man, Abeeb Yusuf, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly receiving stolen property worth N5,000.
The defendant, who is of no fixed address, is standing trial on a one-count charge of receiving stolen property.
The prosecutor, ASP Osuolale Yomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 29 at Omuo Oke-Ekiti.
Yomi alleged that the defendant unlawfully received stolen cloth valued at N5,000 from one Friday Rotimi.
He said that the cloth belonged to one Seyi Timothy.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 343(1) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defence counsel, Mr Femi Olajide, urged the court to grant his client bail, assuring the court that the defendant would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2,000 with one surety in like sum.
Bamidele subsequently adjourned the case until July 10 for hearing. (NAN)
