Man, 31, remanded after pleading guilty to assault

A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday, ordered the  remand at the correctional centre of a 31-year-old man, Bolu Anasa, who pleaded  guilty to assault.

The Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni, ordered his remand until May 13, for a review of facts and sentencing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 6, at about 10.00.a.m, at No 1, MayKem Povita, Badagry area of Lagos.

He said that the defendant unlawfully entered into the room of a complainant’, one Omoge Taiwo, with face mask and cutlass, with intent to commit felony.

According to him, the defendant assaulted the complainant by beating her and causing her injuries.

“The defendant was in possession of a cutlass which he could not give satisfactory account of.

‘He conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by causing pandemonium.

“He was later arrested and handed over to Police for prosecution,” he said

The offences contravene the provisions of sections 168, 173, 308 and 329 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,” he said. (NAN)
