Ibadan, Nov. 3, 2025 (NAN) A 38-year-old man, Olaniyi Olajide, was on Monday arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged membership of an unlawful society and possession of gun.
The defendant, of Akere area, Apete in Ibadan, was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, belonging to unlawful society and unlawful possession of gun.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecuting Counsel, Sgt Ajayi Oluwafemi, told the court that the defendant and others at large conspired together to commit the offences.
Ajayi said that the defendant belonged to Supreme Eye Confraternity, an unlawful society.
He also said that the defendant had in his possession one locally-made cut-to-size gun, which he could not give a satisfactory account of.
Ajayi said that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 20 at about 12:50 a.m. at Akere area, Apete, Ibadan.
The offences, according to him, contravene Sections 64(a), 430 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.T. Oyediji, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Oyediji adjourned the matter till Dec. 3 for hearing. (NAN)
