A 44-year-old man, Lateef Babalola on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging a light board of a nightclub valued at ₦6 million.
Babalola, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of malicious damage, breach of peace and assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 15, at 9.20 p.m. at No. 49 Ikola Road, Alaso, Alagbado, Lagos.
Ikhayere alleged that the defendant maliciously damaged the light board belonging to Mandri Club.
He alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to breach the peace by preventing customers from gaining access into the club.
He alleged that the defendant also assaulted a security guard of the club, Mr Nwokpo Freedom, by hitting his left eye, which caused him severe harm
Ikhayere said that the offences contravened Sections 339, 168 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 339 stipulates five years jail term for malicious damage, while Section 173 provides three years for assault.
The Magistrate, Mr Lateef Owolabi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until May 28, for mention.(NAN)
