Man, 45, in court over alleged car theft

A 45-year-old James Adeniran on Friday, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, for allegedly stealing a car.

Adeniran, whose address was not stated is standing trial on charges bordering on reckless car parking, conspiracy and stealing.

He, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 20, at about 8.00 p.m, at Eleyele area of Ibadan.

Folaranmi alleged that the defendant and others now at large, stole a Nissan Micra worth N950,000, belonging to one Mt Jelili Adeleke.

He alleged that the defendant pretended he wanted to park the car at the aforementioned area, hut was no where to be found, until he was apprehended by the police.

The offences contravene the provisions of Sections 344, 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Sept. 15, for hearing. (NAN)
