Man, 53, docked over alleged N146m theft in Lagos

Ikeja, Feb. 26, 2026(NAN)A 53-year-old man, Gbenga Balogun, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing goods valued at N146.28 million.

Gbenga, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendant and others now at large committed the offences between Jan. 25 and Jan. 26, at GPC Energy and Logistics Ltd., located at 4B, Regina Coker Street, off Kofoworola, Ikeja.

He alleged that the defendant conspired with others at large to commit felony to wit: stealing.

Ikhayere further alleged that the defendant and others at large also stole two trucks valued at N110 million and 3,000 packets of spaghetti worth N36.285 million,  all totalling N146.28 million.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene the provisions of Section 280 and are punishable under Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr L. A. Owolabi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N3 million with two sureties in like sum.

He said that his tax clearance, Bank Verification Number (BVN)  and BIMS( bail information and management systems) must  be verified.

Owolabi adjourned the case until March 11, for further hearing.(NAN)
