Ibadan, March 31, 2026 (NAN) A 73-year-old man, Emmanuel Balogun, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over alleged shop-breaking and stealing of items worth N788,300.
Balogun, whose address was not disclosed, is facing a two-count charge of shop-breaking and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Omolade Adetule, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on March 29 at about 10.00 p.m. at Eleyele, Ibadan.
Adetule alleged that the defendant unlawfully broke into the shop of one John Oke and stole items valued at N788,300.
The items, she said, include waste bin drums, paints, gallons, kegs, iron rods, among others.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 390(9) and 413 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until April 7 for mention. (NAN)
