An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos, on Thursday arraigned a 38-year-old man, Ademola Sarafa, for allegedly tampering with a truck tracking device.
Sarafa is standing trial on a one-count charge of unlawful interference with property.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on June 21 at about 10.30 p.m. while in transit within the Ikeja Magisterial District.
She alleged that Sarafa removed the tracking device installed on a truck with registration number SGM 861XD.
She said the truck belonged to GPC Energy and Logistic Ltd., located at No. 4B Regina Coker St., Ikeja, Lagos.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant removed the device to enable him convey unauthorized goods.
The offence, according to the police, contravenes Section 340 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Lateef Owolabi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate ordered the submission of tax clearance certificates and verification of the sureties.
The case was adjourned until July 28 for further proceedings. (NAN)
