Man docked over alleged membership of unlawful society

Ikeja, Feb. 19, 2026 (NAN) A 27-year-old man, Damola Tajudeen, on Thursday, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with membership of an unlawful society.

Tajudeen is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society.

The Prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, alleged that the defendant and others now at large, on Dec. 26, 2025, at 11.00 a.m. at Imoru Street, Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos, conspired to commit felony to wit: membership of unlawful society.

He was also alleged to have belonged to the Eiye Confraternity, a group said to be proscribed by law.

According to the charge, the offences contravene Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and Section 2(3)(a)(b)(c)(d) of the Unlawful Societies Prohibition and Cultism Law of Lagos State, 2021.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr L.A. Owolabi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until March 23,  2026, for mention.(NAN)
