Man jailed 6 months for causing grievous harm

An area court in Jos on Thursday sentenced a 22-year-old bus conductor, Adamu Musa, to six months  imprisonment for causing grievous harm.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of criminal intimidation and causing grievous harm.
The judge ordered the convict to pay a fine of N30,000 or spend six months at the correctional center.
He also ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N90,000 to the complainant or spend six months at the correctional facility “if he defaults to pay the compensation.”.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp. Ibrahim Gokat, told the court that on Jan. 6, at the Laranto Police Station Jos, the complainant, Ms. Aisha Abdullahi, reported the case.
He revealed that the complainant said that the convict slapped her and inflicted serious injuries on her head.
Gokat disclosed that during the police investigation, the convict confessed to the crime.

He said the offenses contravened provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code, Law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
