Mechanic arraigned over alleged N13m fraud

Ibadan, March 11, 2026 (NAN) A 35-Year old  mechanic, Babatunde Sikiru, on Wednesday, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, in Ibadan, over  alleged N13 million fraud.

Sikiru is standing trial on charges bordering on conspiracy and theft,.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that Sikiru committed the offences sometime in May, 2025, at Adamasingba shopping complex, Ibadan.

Adegbenro alleged that the defendant conspired with others now at large, to fraudulently steal the sum of N13 million, belonging to one Mr Olalekan Tajudeen, a nominal complainant.

He alleged that the complainant had entrusted his trucks worth N19 million to the care of the defendant before traveling abroad.

According to him, the defendant sold the trucks without remitting any money to the complainant.

Besides, the prosecutor alleged that the defendant sold the trucks for the sum of 13 million, a sum far lower than the true worth of the trucks

The offences contravene the provisions of sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 30, for hearing. (NAN)
