Akwanga (Nasarawa State), April 10, 2026 (NAN) Nacabs Polytechnic, a private institution in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, has matriculated 610 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Mr Mandy David-Abuluya, Founder of the institution, disclosed this during the 14th matriculation ceremony for National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) students on Friday in Akwanga.

David-Abuluya warned staff and students against misconduct, including sex-for-grades, extortion and examination malpractice, stressing that offenders would be sanctioned.

“I want to advise against sex-for-marks, money-for-grades and extortion. Female students should also avoid prostitution and other negative acts,” he said.

He also cautioned students against drug abuse and other social vices, urging them to remain focused on their studies.

The founder said that about 90 per cent of students in the institution were on scholarship.

He added that the polytechnic had recorded significant growth over the years and urged students to take their academic pursuits seriously in order to succeed.

Earlier, Mr Audu Maikori, the Rector of the polytechnic declared the ceremony open and charged the students to be diligent and uphold the institution’s values.

Maikori, who was represented by the Deputy Rector, Mr David Agbutun-Abuluya, said the matriculation marked a significant phase in the institution’s development.

“Your admission reflects your ambition and readiness to pursue knowledge and skills. You are joining an institution committed not just to education, but transformation,” he said.

He also announced that the institution’s Higher National Diploma programmes in Business Administration and Management, Accountancy, Computer Science and Statistics had received full accreditation for five years from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

“This achievement affirms the quality of our programmes and assures students and parents that our education is credible and aligned with national standards,” he said.

In his remarks, the Registrar, Mr Usman Ogah, who administered the matriculation oath, urged the students to adhere strictly to the institution’s rules and regulations.

Ogah warned that violators of school regulations would be disciplined accordingly.

Also speaking, Mr Yuna Solly, Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Akwanga, commended the proprietor for establishing the institution and urged students to embrace hard work.

Responding on behalf of the matriculating students, Miss Comfort Emmanuel pledged to abide by the institution’s rules and remain committed to her studies. (NAN)
