NAF extends medical outreach to Bauchi community

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Base 261 Bauchi, has offered free medical treatment to 500 persons suffering from various ailments in Bauchi.

Air Commodre, Adedoyin Oyenudi, the Commander, NAF Reference Hospital, Bauchi, stated this at the inauguration of the exercise on Wednesday in Bauchi.

He said the exercise was part of activities to commemorate the 2024 NAF Day, inline with the Service commitment to improved quality healthcare service delivery.

“Today’s event signifies our commitment towards improving our civil-military relationship.

“And also have the privilege of free consultations with our team of medical experts. In addition to some screening exercises like hepatitis, malaria and sugar test will be carried out,” he said

Also speaking, AVM Ernest Effiong, the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, said the Service would continue to provide viable programmed to support its host communities in the country.

Represented by AVM Razaq Olarewaju, his Chief of Staff, Effiong said the exercise targeted 500 persons to benefit from free services including  medical consultations, blood pressure checks, eye and blood screening.

He said that drugs, corrective glasses and treated nets would be distributed during the exercise.

The commander said that arrangements had been made for medical conditions that require further treatment at the NAF Reference Hospital, Bauchi.

According to Effiong, NAF medical facility is open to the public, adding that people could access it as long as they state clearly their mission to the Base.

The Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman-Adamu, lauded the gesture, adding that it signified the cordial relationship between the civilians and the military.

The royal father was represented at the event by Alhaji Yusuf Ibrahim.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Fatima Bala, thanked NAF for the opportunity given to them to access free medical care.

She urged other organizations and individuals to emulate the gesture to enhance access to quality healthcare services at the grassroots. (NAN)
