The Zamfara Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has reaffirmed its commitment to the health and dignity of inmates in its facilities.
This is contained in a statement issued by the NCoS’ Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Abubakarin Gusau.
The command, he said, adheres strictly to national operational standards provides routine medical checks, feeding and sanitation.
”Structured welfare programmes guarantee regular feeding, access to healthcare services, and maintenance of hygienic and sanitary conditions in facilities,” he said.
On awaiting-trial inmates, he said:” our case fall within the broader judicial and legal processes involving multiple institutions.
”NCoS remains committed to working with the judiciary, legal aid organizations, and other stakeholders to support speedy dispensation of justice”.
The command reiterated its pledge to protect inmates’ fundamental human rights while sustaining security, rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration programmes to prepare inmates for productive life after custody.
