Port Harcourt, Jan. 13, 2026 (NAN) The Niger Delta Development Commission (NAN) has inaugurated a Project Verification and Payment Committee to commence the verification of projects and the payment to contractors.
Mrs Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs at NDDC, disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Thompson-Wakama said the decision was reached at a recent meeting of the 7th Governing Board of the commission.
She explained that the committee was inaugurated in compliance with a recent Federal Government’s directive to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to digitalise their platforms and adopt paperless system.
She added that the committee would undertake a comprehensive verification of all completed projects in the region from January 2023.
According to her, in line with the Federal Government directive, the NDDC management has commenced the verification of all completed projects to capture them in the commission’s electronic database for payment.
”The committee will verify all categories of infrastructure projects, including electrification, de-silting, environmental, and water projects.
”This is to enable their capture on the NDDC’s Directorate of Finance and Accounts digitalised platform for payment.”
The committee is chaired by the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Mr Boma Iyaye, while the Director of Legal Services, Mr Victor Arenyeka, serves as Secretary.
Other members include the Executive Director of Projects, Mr Victor Antai, and the Director of Project Monitoring and Supervision, Mr Gbenga Omowanle, among others. (NAN)
