He revealed that 300 youths were trained on basic entrepreneurial skills and the basics needed to be successful entrepreneurs.
“They were empowered with startup packs, including soft grants requirement for their businesses.
“While the remaining 150 youths were given agricultural water pumps and power generating sets under the board’s Strategic Empowerment Programme,” he said.
Thomas commended the lawmaker for collaborating with the board to empower the youths in the constituency. Earlier, the lawmaker representing the constituency, Alhaji Yusuf Badau, commended the NFVCB for the collaboration, saying that his constituency had benefited immersely.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items to enable them become self-reliant.
A beneficiary, Umar Shanono, expressed delight over the programme, pointing out that the empowerment was a clear indication that the government had not forgotten people living in rural areas.
“I am very lucky to be selected for this capacity building programme this time around, we thank them for that,” he said. (NAN)
