Nigeria Use Of Illicit Drugs Rises Above Global Average – UNODC

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has revealed that the number of people using illicit drugs in Nigeria has risen to 14.4% which is higher than the global average.

The UNODC in partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and with the support of the European Union giving the UNODC’s 2021 World Drug Report today highlight the need to close the gap between perception and reality to educate young people and safeguard public health.

The report further informed that in Africa cases of illicit drug use will increase to 40 percent in 2030 due to its rapidly growing and young population. In Nigeria, this would signify that the country.
