Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), pledged on Tuesday to be fair to all clients and staff towards boosting the blue economy.
The managing director made the pledge in a statement issued in Lokoja on Tuesday by the Authority’s Corporate Affairs General Manager, Mr Jibril Darda’u.
Oyebamiji said that the vision and mission of NIWA were crucial to contributing to the growth and development of Nigeria.
As the managing director of this vital authority, I won’t descend so low to engage in any act of favouritism that can hamper our desired goals and objectives.
“As such, I won’t instruct, either directly or indirectly, any officer of the agency to favour anyone in the course of discharging his or her lawful duties.
“Therefore, I wish to reassure the general public of NIWA’s unbiased treatment of every Nigerian in the course of discharging its roles as an agency under the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
“NIWA, as an agency of government at all times, remains resolute to uphold the tenets of fairness and justice in discharging its official responsibilities to all clients. ”
The NIWA boss, however, warned against clandestine moves by enemies of progress to drag the authority into any issue capable of distracting it from its resolve to provide effective services to the Nigerian public.
“Attempts by some persons to mislead the unsuspecting public with some false and unsubstantiated information won’t be tolerated.”
He, however, called for the support and cooperation of the public to enable the authority to meet its mandate of ensuring the safety of lives and property along the inland waterways. (NAN)
