The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) says the 2026 Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League will commence on June 13 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
President of the federation, Musa Nimrod, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
Nimrod said the support of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, had significantly contributed to the federation’s activities and programmes.
He commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and its management for their commitment to the development of volleyball in the country.
“We thank the NCS, the Comptroller-General and his management for supporting volleyball, and we look forward to greater achievements.
“The partnership has boosted the growth of the sport and youth development across the country,” he said.
The NVBF president described the sponsorship as timely and impactful, noting that the federation had enjoyed the support of the Customs Service for the past three years.
“This is the third edition of the league under the sponsorship of the NCS.
“We began this partnership three years ago and have continued to work together.
“I believe this year’s support will surpass that of the previous editions because the Comptroller-General is passionate about sports and committed to helping athletes succeed in their careers.
“I want to thank God for the Nigeria Customs Service, through the Comptroller-General, for the tremendous support towards volleyball development and the Premier League,” he said.
Nimrod added that the federation had also played its role in ensuring the success of the partnership and the league.
“We have not left everything to the sponsors; we are also contributing our quota to ensure proper planning and the continued progress of the league,” he said.
NAN reports that, as part of its developmental programmes, the federation will organize the first phase of the Beach Volleyball Tour in Kaduna from June 5 to June 12.
NAN also reports that six clubs gained promotion to the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League, with three clubs each in the male and female categories.
The promoted female clubs are VIP Partners Volleyball Club, Nigeria Fire Service Volleyball Club and Excelsior Volleyball Club.
In the male category, Defence Spikers Volleyball Club, Ajase Ipo Volleyball Club and Life Camp Volleyball Club secured promotion.
A total of 26 clubs will participate in the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League, comprising 13 male and 13 female teams.
The league will run from June 13 to June 28 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. (NAN)
