Ohanaeze Youth Council has condemned the statements made by the former president general of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Chief Gary Igariwey and some of his past executives, where they insulted the chairman of Elders Forum of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State as well as members of the caretaker committee inaugurated to pilot the affairs of Ohanaeze in January this year.
In a press release signed by its national president, Comrade Anachuna Chukwudi and publicity secretary, Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka and obtained by Quick News Africa, Ohanaeze Youth Council reminded Chief Igariwey that the tenure of his executive ended on January 12, and that upon expiry, a caretaker committee was set up to pilot the affairs of Ohanaeze, headed by Chief Ralph Obioha since he refused to hand over for an election to be held and choose a new executive.Â
It called on Igariwey to hand over to the caretaker committee since his activities as executive have expired, and thereby stop insulting the sensibilities of Ndi Igbo.Â
Quick News Africa gathered that the statement also drew attention of Igbos all over the world to the development, and cautioned that Igariwey should desist from causing disaffection among people of the Igbo nation, in an already tense environment.Â
The organisation therefore apologised to those who have been insulted by Chief Igariwey and others, stating that it speaks volume of the crop of leader he has made himself into.
