Mr. David Ombugadu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections in Nasarawa State, has enrolled 13, 000 residents of the state in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Ombugadu disclosed this at a reception organised for him by supporters of his party on Thursday in Akwanga.
The candidate, who said that the gesture cost him over N195 million, explained that the move was borne out of his desire to improve the living and health conditions of the people, particularly the poor.
”We have already paid N195 million for one year for the 13, 000 beneficiaries.
”This will enable them to access healthcare services; this is part of my campaign promises, and I vowed to fulfil them whether in office or not.
”The beneficiaries, 1,000 each, are drawn from the 13 Local Government Areas of the state, he said
Umbugadu promised to enroll the same number of beneficiaries annually in the scheme, adding that such a move would enable the vulnerable to access quality healthcare services.
Ombugadu thanked the people of the state for the support given him during the 2023 general election.
He, however, appealed to the people to support all PDP candidates who won their elections, adding that the party is determined to improve the living standard of Nigerians. (NAN)
