Akure, Aug. 21, 2025 (NAN) The Chairman of Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Sports, Mr Olajide Oguntodu, has urged the leadership of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) to be transparent and accountable in their activities.
Oguntodu, who stated this on Thursday in Akure when the committee paid a visit to the newly appointed leadership of the agency, urged them to develop football at the grassroots level.
He urged Divine Ogbonnaya, the General Manager of the agency, to translate its plans into tangible actions, particularly in the areas of infrastructure rehabilitation and grassroots football development.
The chairman said that the visit marked a strategic step towards strengthening legislative oversight and fostering constructive collaboration in the sports sector.
Oguntodu underscored the readiness of the legislative arm to support the agency through appropriate legislative backing, and budgetary advocacy.
He urged the new management to align its programmes with broader state sports development policy.
“Provide opportunity for direct engagement on current challenges, future priorities and the overall strategic direction of the promotion of grassroots talents from the nooks and crannies of the state, “he said.
Responding, Ogbonnaya said that key objectives such as talent development, infrastructure improvement and youth empowerment through grassroots football would put the state on the world map of football.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee later inspected the ongoing renovation and upgrading of facilities at the players’ hostel and the pitch. (NAN)
