Police arraign 2 artisans for allegedly stealing household appliances

Abuja, Jan. 11, 2024 (NAN) ) The police arraigned two artisans,  Mukailu Yusuf and Abdulsamad Rabiu in a Dei-Dei Grade I Area  Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing household appliances worth N 500,000

The police charged Yusuf and Rabiu with criminal  conspiracy and theft .

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada  told the court that the complainant, Mr Eze Valentine of Kubwa Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Dec. 23.

Ogada said that the defendants criminally conspired and stole a pressing iron,  Electric Kettle and industrial Iron.

He said that the defendants also made away with the complainant’s microwave oven and electric kettle.

The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the defendants could not give a satisfactory account of themselves.

Ogada  told the court that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 9 7and 287 of the Penal Code.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Mr Saminu Suleiman , admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Suleiman adjourned the case until Feb. 13 for hearing. (NAN)
