Police arraign man, 28, over alleged breach of peace

A 28-year old man, Ikechukwu Ogbona, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged breach of peace.

Ogbona whose address was not given, is being charged with breach of peace and constituting public nuisance, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 3.30p.m on May 15, in Ado-Ekiti.

Oriyomi stated that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace and constituting public nuisance.

He said that the offence contravened Section 181(1)(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Mrs Olamipekun Adunni, urged the court to grant Ogbona bail, and promised that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adosun, granted Ogbona bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until June 16, for hearing.(NAN)
