Lagos, Feb. 27, 2026(NAN) A 44-year-old man, Sunday Babalola, on Friday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Ojota, Lagos, over alleged assault on a task force officer.
Babalola, who resides at Ikosi-Ketu, is facing a two-count charge of assault and causing grievous harm.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 13 at Ikosi Road, Ketu, Lagos.
Bassey said that the defendant used a broken bottle to stab the complainant, Mr Toyin Aliu, on his jaw, while performing his lawful duty.
He said that the defendant was arrested by some other task force officers, who handed him over to the police.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 173 and 174(e) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Daodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until March 6 for mention. (NAN)
