Badagry (Lagos State) Jan. 23, 2026 (NAN) The Police on Friday, dragged a 38-year-old man, Muhammad Abubakar, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged impersonation and assault.
The defendant whose address was not stated, is standing trial on charges bordering on impersonation, assault and causing a breach of peace.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Friday Mamoh, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan.16, at about 9.00.p.m, beside AP filing station at Badagry Round about, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully impersonated an officer of the Nigerian Army, by putting on their camouflage face cap.
“The defendant unlawfully stabbed one Agbeyemi Bolaji, a complainant with a knife on her right cheek, which made her sustain injury.
“He also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by scattering the goods in the shop of the complainant.
“The defendant was arrested and handed over to Police for prosecution,” he said
The offences contravene the provisons of sections 77, 168 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A J Aina, granted the defendant bail in the sum N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He held that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed.
Aina adjourned the case until Feb. 24, for mention. (NAN)
