Federal Capital Territory, February 4, 2024: The Police Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, issued a cautionary note to married couples, advising them to refrain from sharing details of their marriages on social media platforms.
SP Josephine Adeh delivered the message through her social media handle on Sunday, emphasising that couples should use these platforms to promote their businesses instead of showcasing personal relationships. In her post, she wrote, “All these married couples are showing off love on social media. I don’t want to hear complaints. Keep your happy homes off social media. Use the social media platforms to promote your businesses.”
The caution comes in response to a surge in complaints received by the FCT Police Complaint Response Unit (PCRU) over the last two months, with many grievances reported by married individuals. A source within the PCRU disclosed that numerous couples in the FCT had been reaching out to the police, expressing concerns about their partners’ social media activities and the negative impact on their marriages.
The PCRU official commented, “I think the PRO is just very concerned because most of the complaints that we have received at the PCRU over the past two months have been from married people. A lot of these married people living in the FCT have been calling us to complain about the content that their partners post on social media and how it sometimes affects them in negative ways.”
The caution from the Police PRO highlights the growing need for couples to exercise discretion in sharing personal matters online, as the FCT Police respond to the increasing trend of marital disputes linked to social media activities.
