Police Day: Anambra Command promotes fitness, healthy living

Awka, March 31, 2026 (NAN) The Anambra Police Command, on Tuesday, embarked on a road walk and  environmental cleanup with some residents to promote physical fitness and healthy living among its operatives and Awka community.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka on Tuesday.

Ikenga stated that the exercise was part of the activities lined up for this year’s National Police Day.

He said the celebration is meant to foster police-community relations, demonstrate unity, cooperation, and a shared commitment with the police.

The command’s spokesman also disclosed that the fitness walk, which started from the command Headquarters, brought together the management team, other police officers, alongside interested members of the public.

He added that the participants demonstrated unity, cooperation, and a shared commitment to healthy living.

The statement added that the exercise further underscored the command’s dedication to enhancing the wellbeing of its personnel, while fostering closer ties with the community, in line with the principle of community policing.

The command thanked members of the public, who voluntarily joined in the exercise, and reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.  (NAN)
